Eli Lilly and Company has a long history of philanthropy around the world and we are guided by our three core values – integrity, excellence and respect for people – in all that we do. Lilly Australia shares this dedication and we take our role as a corporate citizen seriously. Whether it is the millions we spend on Australian research and development each year, or the community projects in our local area, our commitment is the same.
Supporting the medical community
Lilly Australia is a driving force in Research and Development (R&D) in Australia and New Zealand. In 2012, Lilly invested approximately $AUD 16 million in R&D across Australia and New Zealand. Globally, our company is committed to investing approximately 19 per cent of sales into clinical R&D each year. This investment in R&D has translated into a robust pipeline across many therapeutic areas, including schizophrenia, depression, cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis and heart disease.
Corporate Social Responsibility
Lilly Australia is passionate about being a part of our local community. We believe that corporate social responsibility is much more than a fad that we have recently embraced – it is a fundamental part of who we are. Lilly Australia has corporate partnerships with four organisations that serve the local and broader Australian community – The Smith Family, Parramatta Mission, Melrose Park Primary School, and Ermington Soccer Club. Through our employee volunteering program Lilly Australia enables our people to use their talent and time to contribute to our community.
